Fetal Ouadrigeminal Arachnoid Cyst Secondary to Usage of Valproic Acid
Valproic acid (VPA) is a commonly used antiepileptic drug, that is well known to be a potent teratogen. Especially, its use in the 8 weeks of pregnancy increases this teratogenic potential. Among these anomalies caused by VPA are many forms of syste-mic involvement and craniofacial anomalies, however there was no case of arachnoid cyst. Here, we present a case of fetal arachnoid cyst in an epileptic pregnant vvomen who used VPA which is the most probable reason for this teratogenic effect, to draw attention to teratogenic spectrum of VPA.
