Dudak-damak yarıklı bireylerde maloklüzyonun konuşma bozukluklarına etkisi

Dudak-damak yarığı yüzün en sık rastlanılan konjenital anomalisidir. Dudak-damak yarıklı hastalar ağız yapılarındaki anatomik ve fonksiyonel farklılıklar nedeniyle konuşma problemleri açısından yüksek risk grubundadırlar. Dudak-damak yarıkları bebeklikten yetişkinliğe uzanan bir süreçte multidisipliner ekip yaklaşımı ile tedavi edilmektedir. Bu ekip yaklaşımının önemli bir parçası olan ortodontik tedavi, maloklüzyonu elimine ederek konuşmanın düzeltilmesinde olumlu katkılar sağlayabilmektedir.

Influence of malocclusion on speech disorders in subjects with cleft lip and palate

Cleft lip and palate is the most common congenital anomaly of the face. Because of anatomical and functional deviations in the oral structure, patients with cleft lip and palate are at an elevated risk for speech problems. Treatment of the cleft lip and palate requires a multidisciplinary team approach from infancy to adulthood. As an important part of this approach, orthodontic treatment might have positive contributions in the management of speech.
