Old But Efficacious Flap For Reconstruction of Tissue Defects of The Upper Limbs: Groin Flap

The groin flap is an axial flap which can be used for pedicled or free tissue transfer. Its vascular supply comes via the superficial circumflex iliac artery. Although it has the disadvantages of variable vascular anatomy and small pedicle calibration, there are many advantages such as: reliable circulation because of its axial pattern , lack of donor site morbidity, appropriate thickness, and being relatively hairless. Pedicled flaps are alternative flaps for reconstruction of upper extremity soft tissue defects, for which free tissue transfer is not preferable due to vascular problems. In this paper we present two cases of soft tissue defects and recipient vascular problems for free tissue transfer on the upper extremities, which were reconstructed with pedicled groin flaps
