Bu çalısma, turizm destinasyonlarının gelistirilmesinde küçük ölçekli turizm isletmelerinin (KTİ) oynadıgı rolü ele almaktadır. Çalısma üç ana bölümden olusmaktadır. Birinci bölümde KTİ’lerin genel anlamda önemi ve turizm destinasyonları açısından önemi incelenmektedir. İkinci bölümde, KTİ’lerin karsılastıkları güçlükler incelenerek bu isletmelerin performanslarının iyilestirilmesi ve sürdürülebilir gelisimlerinin saglanması için gerekli kosullar ortaya koyulmaktadır. Üçüncü bölümde ise Akçakoca özelinde konuya yaklasılarak, Akçakoca’da turizmin gelistirilmesi noktasında KTİ’ler bazında yapılabilecekler irdelenmekte ve önerilere yer verilmektedir.

This study focuses on the role that small tourism ventures (STV) play in development of tourism destinations. The paper comprises three major parts. In the first part, the significance of STVs is analyzed within a comprehensive view first and than for tourism destinations in particular. In the second part, through an investigation of the impediments that STVs face, the needed conditions for improving the business performance and ensuring the sustainable development of STVs are presented. In the third part, by approaching the subject with Akcakoca focus, the things that can be done on the base of STVs for the purpose of improving tourism are considered and suggestions are listed.
