In many languages there are special parts of speech to indicate the number of objects. In Chinese, special countable words are used for this. The peculiarity of the Chinese language is that, unlike the Kazakh one, there are much more counting words in it and they are used much more widely. Therefore, when studying counting words by Kazakh students, certain difficulties arise. In this article types of counting words of Chinese and Kazakh languages and their main similarities are considered. In the course of work on this article, a questionnaire was sent to Kazakhstani students studying at the Pedagogical University of Central China. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it was possible to analyze the main causes of student errors when using countable words in Chinese.
