Evaluation of patient satisfaction and oral hygiene during retention period
Aim: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the satisfaction of the patients in passive orthodontic retention period after the active orthodontic treatment, measure their knowledge and complaints about fixed lingual retainers and assess the patients’oral hygiene. Materials and Methods: The plaque index (PI) and papillary bleeding index (PBI) of the total oral as well as the fixed retainer application regions (Upper and lower lingual) of 42 patients whose active orthodontic treatment was finished 1 year ago were measured. Additionally, they were asked to answer a 22-item questionnaire regarding the retention period. Intragroup comparison of quatitative and qualitative data was performed using Friedman and Chi-Squared Test, respectively. Results: Most of the patients were satisfied with the alignment and smile aesthetics after the active orthodontic treatment as well as retention period (p
