Comparison of the effects of Na-Hyaluronate and methylcellulose on tendon restoration
In the present study, the effects of 2 % Na-hyaluronate (Orthovisc, Anica Zenearch Inc.USA) and 2% methylsellulose (Methocell, Dispersa GmbH, Germany) on the prevention of adhesion in experimentally induced tendon wounds. For this purpose, tenetomie was applied to superficial tendons offorelimbs in 16 lambs. To protect adhesion after operations, 0.5 ml Na hyaluronate (8 lambs, first experimental group) and 0.5 ml methylsellulose (8 lambs, second experimental group) were applied to tendon sheath. Only tenorraphie were applied to the other 16 extremities for control. After operation all extremities were bandaged with PVC splint. Bandages opened 15th and 21st days after operation. Clinical and histopathological examinations of the tendons were done 22, 30, 60 and 80 days after the operations. The best mobility and the least adhesion were observed in the Na-hyaluronate applicated group and bandages opened earlier.
