"Değişik özür seviyesindeki serebral palsili çocukların annelerinin depresyon düzeyleri farklı mıdır?"

Bu çalışma değişik özür seviyesine sahip serebral palsi (SP)’li çocukların annelerinin depresyon düzeyleri arasında fark olup olmadığı sorusuna cevap bulmak amacıyla planlandı. Bu çalışmaya 62 SP’li çocuk ve annesi dahil edildi. Olguların kaba motor fonksiyon seviyeleri Kaba Motor Fonksiyon Sınıflandırma Sistemi (Gross Motor Function Classification System-KMFSS)’ne göre, ince motor fonksiyon seviyeleri El Yetenek Sınıflandırma Sistemi (Manual Ability Classification System-MACS)’ne göre, annelerin depresyon düzeyleri ise Beck Depresyon Envanteri (Beck Depression Inventory–BDE) ile değerlendirildi. Veriler SPSS 11.5 istatistik programı kullanılarak Kruskall-Wallis ve Spearman korelasyon testleri ile analiz edildi. p

Do the depression levels of mothers differ in different levels of disability of their children with cerebral palsy?

This study aimed to investigate if the depression levels of the mothers differ in different levels of disability of their children with cerebral palsy (CP). This study included 62 children with CP. Gross motor function levels of children were determined by Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), manual ability by Manual Ability Classification System (MACS) and depression levels of the mothers by Beck Depression Inventory (BDE). Datas were analyzed by Kruskall-Wallis and Spearman correlation test by using SPSS 11.5 statistical program. Mean age of the children were 6.15±2.06 years (min:4max:10). Mean age of the mothers were 32.08±6.03 years. The two of the mothers were working and the others were housewifes. 13 (21%) of the children were in Level I, 12 (19.4%) in Level II, 10 (16.1%) in Level III, 19 (30.6%) in Level IV and 8 (12.9%) in Level V of GMFCS. According to MACS; 26 (41.9%) children were in Level I, 18 (29.1%) in Level II, 8 (12.9%) in Level III and 10 (16.1%) in Level IV. Significant correlation was found between GMFCS levels and depression levels of the mothers (r=0.699, p<0.05); between MACS and depression levels of the mothers (r=0.352, p<0.05). In addition, GMFCS and MACS levels of the children effected depression levels of their mothers (p<0.05). The effects of level of disability in children with CP on their mothers’ psychological status are important to achieve rehabilitation targets and to determine the required family support.
