“Saman Sarısı”(“Straw Blond”) is one of the poems of Nâzım Hikmet written in the last period of his life.This poem is significant, especially in view of two aspects of Nâzım Hikmet’s creativity: One of them concerns the contents of the poem. This poem that has an epical broadness should be regarded as an account of Nâzım Hikmet’s life given by the poet himself, not only in personal but in cosmic dimensions as well.The other particular importance of “Straw Blond” is in its symphonic character which is the result of its polyphonic structure and the complexity of the time and space tissue which are characteristic of surrealist poetry.
