P20 mold steel hardened to 55 HRC was machined by using two different types of cubic boron nitride cutting tools at high cutting speeds. One of the CBN tools used in the experiments is a low CBN content tool with a ceramic binder. The other one is a high CBN content tool with a metal binder. Tool wear and surface roughness results obtained with each type of tools were compared, and the effects of feed rate, CBN content and binder on tool wear and surface roughness were investigated.
