Türkler de teşkilatlanıp bu zulümlere karşı koymaya başlarlar. Roman bölgenin önemli ailelerinden olan Recep Köso etrafında döner. Recep hem Hristiyanların eziyetleriyle mücadele eder. Hem de aşık olduğu Hristiyan kızı Filomene ile evlenmeye çalışır. Roman Recep ve Filomene’nin kavuşma mücadeleleri ve Türk Yunan çatışmaları ile devam eder. Osmanlı’nın bölgeye hakim olması ve Recep’in Filomene ile evlenmesi ile sona erer. Roman Osmanlıcılık ideolojisinin etkisi altında yazılmıştır.

Ahmet Mithat Efendi’s Volunteer novel is a novel with a thesis. It tells about the rebellion of the minorities in the Balkans and the situation of the Turks against them. In fact, Muslims and Christians live together on good terms. However, as a result of external provocations, some Christians in the region begin to persecute the Turks. The Turks organized themselves and started to oppose these oppressions. The novel revolves around Recep Köso, one of the important families of the region. Recep also struggles with the persecution of Christians. He also tries to marry the Christian girl Filomene, whom he falls in love with. The novel continues with the reunion struggles of Recep and Filomene and the Turkish-Greek conflicts. It ends with the Ottoman domination of the region and Recep’s marriage to Filomene. The novel was written under the influence of the ideology of Ottomanism.
