Kamkat (Fortunella margarita Swing.)
Changing of Essential Oil Content and Composition of Peel of Kumquat (Fortunella margarita Swing.) According to Rootstocks
Kumquat is belonging to Fortunella genus of Rutacea family and its plantations have expanded during last years in Turkey. Fruit properties could be significantly varied with respect to growing methods and conditions. In this study, the effect of Carrizo, Cleopatra, Flying Dragon, Kaba Limon, Troyer and Volkameriana rootstocks on essential oil yield and composition of Nagami (Fortunella margarita Swing.) cultivar were determined. Essential oil content of these samples varied between 3.14% and 4.44% with respect to rootstocks. On the other hand, essential oil compositions were not varied significantly for these samples. Totally, 11 compounds quantified for peel’s essential oils. The main component was determined as limonene and ranged from 95.17% to 95.62% in these kumquat peel essential oils. Other important components were β-myrcene, germacrene D and αpinene according to ratios. Results showed that essential oil yield of kumquat could be varied depend on rootstocks, but not its composition
