Bir eylemin gerçekleşmesi için, olmazsa olmaz türünden iki koşula gereksinim vardır. Bunlardan biri eylemi yapan kişi, diğeri de eylemin yapılma zamanıdır. Bu nedenle eylemde var olan zaman, sözcüklerle tanımlayamayacağımız kadar soyuttur. Zaman eklerinin görevi, eylemde var olan soyut zamanı somuta çevirmektir. Zaman ifade eden sözcükler, bu konuda zaman eklerinin destekçisidir. Çünkü onlar da somutluğu zaman yelpazesi içinde daha kesin bir çizgiye oturtmakla yükümlüdürler. Bu nedenle çekimli, çekimsiz, kök, gövde her tür eylemin içinde zaman kavramı bulunmaktadır

One needs at least two sine qua non requisites in order to be performed an act. One of them is the person performing the act and the other is the time in which the act is performed. Because of this reason, the time passed through the act is as abstruse as indefinable with any word. The function of time appendix is therefore to transform the time of an act from abstract form into the concrete one. The adverbs are supporters of the time appendix because of their charge of placing the concreteness in a more definite course within the time spectrum. That is why a time concept takes always a place in any kind of act which may well be with- or without inflections or in root and theme of the sentence
