Peyzaj mimarlığı çalışmalarında bitki materyali seçimi oldukça önemlidir. Doğal bitki örtüsüne ait materyalin kullanımı uygulamaların başarı şansını artırmakta, ekonomik bir yaklaşım olmakta ve kent ile yakın çevresinin bütünlüğünü sağlamaktadır. Bu araştırmada Bartın kenti ve yakın çevresinin bitki örtüsü, peyzaj tasarımında kullanım yönünden değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma yöntemi, arazi çalışması, bitki teşhisi, analiz ve değerlendirme olmak üzere 3 aşamadan oluşmaktadır. Alanından 25 noktada vejetasyon dönemi içerisinde 89 adet bitki örneği toplanmıştır. Bu bitkilerden 64 otsu ve 25 odunsu taksonun kentsel mekanlarda kullanıma uygun olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca otsu bitkilerden Galanthus plicatus Bieb. ssp. byzantinus (Baker.) D. A. Webb.' un endemik olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada saptanan 89 adet bitkinin peyzaj düzenlemelerinde ekolojik, estetik ve fonksiyonel işlevlerine göre en fazla estetik (%24.7), en az ekolojik (%2.3) kullanıma uygun olduğu saptanmıştır. Selection of plant material is very important in the landscape planning. Use of the plant material, belong the natural flora, is increasing the success of the landscape architecture applications and is getting economical approach and integrity of city and it's environs. In this research, the flora of Bartin city and environs was evaulated from this aspect of the landscape design. Research method consist of three steps; field study, plant description, analyses and evaluation. In this context, 89 plant materials were collected from 25 point at the research area in vegetation period. From 89 plants, 64 herbaceous and 25 woody taxons are determined as suitable for utilization in urban areas. From herbaceous plants, Galanthus plicatus Bieb. ssp. byzantinus (Baker.) D. A. Webb. is an endemic plant. Based on ecological, aesthetical and functional roles of the 89 plants determined in the study, most of them (24.7%) were suitable for aesthetical utilization and least of them (2.3%) were suitable for ecological utilization in landscape planning.
