Sarıkamış'ta 1996 ve 1997 yıllarında yürütülen bu çalışmada, daha çok Sarıçam (Pinus sylvestris L.) ormanları içerisinde bireysel gruplar halinde kendiliğinden yetişen titrek kavak (Populus tremula L.) ağaçları üzerinde zarar yapan değişik takım ve familyalara mensup 18 böcek türü tespit edilmiştir. Bu türlerden; Clıionaspis salicis (L.), Lepidosaphes ulmi (L.), Chaitophorııs tremulaeKoch, Chrysomela collaris L, Crepidodera a urea (Geoffroy), Byctiscus betulae (L.) ve Phyllonorycter apparella (Herrich-Schäeffer) yörede yaygın olan ve yer yer yüksek populasyon oluşturan önemli zararlılar durumundadır. Poecilonota variolosa (Paykull), Cerambyx (Mesocerambyx) scopolii Fuesslin, Hylotrupes bajulus L, Leptura quadrifasciata L., Rhagium bifasciatum F., Saperda (Anaerea) carcharias (L.), S. (Argalia) perforata (Pallas) ve Xylotrechus rusticus (L.) türleri ise az sayıda bulunan ve fazla yaygın olmayan türlerdir. Yüksek populasyon oluşturan türlerden C. collaris ile B. betulae'nm biyolojisi çalışılarak, diğer türler üzerinde de bazı biyolojik gözlemler yapılmıştır.

Eighteen insect species belonging to different orders and families were determined as pests on aspen (Populus tremula L.) in Sarıkamış (Kars) during 1996 and 1997. The forests in this region are composed of scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) mixed with aspen constituting individual native groups. Among determined species, Chaitophorus tremulae Koch, Chionaspis salicis (L.), Lepidosaph.es ultni (L.), Chrysomela collaris L, Crepidodera aurea (Geoffroy), Byctiscus betulae (L.) and Phyllonorycter apparella (Herrich-Schäeffer) were recorded to be important pests, widespread and abundant. Poecilonota variolosa (Paykull), Cerambyx (Mesocerambyx) scopolii Fuesslin, Hylotrupes bajulus L., Leptura quadrifasciata L., Rhagium bifasciatum F., Saperda (Anaerea) carcharias (L.), S. (Argalia) perforata (Pallas) and Xylotrechus rusticus having low population level were rare. However, biology of C. collaris and B. betulae having high population level was studied, and made some biological observations on the other species.
