Çukurova yöresi pamuk alanlarında görülen çiçek thripsleri Frankliniella intonsa (Trybom) Frankliniella occldentalis (Pergande)'nin populasyon değişimleri ile polifag predator populasyon değişimi ilişkisi, 1996 ve 1997 yıllarında araştırılmıştır. Polifag predatörlerden Deraeocoris pollens Reut, Chrysoperla cornea (Stephens) ve Orius niger WoIIf pamukta bulunan diğer predatörlere göre daha yüksek sayıda bulunmuştur. Mevsim başında predator türlerden D. pallens, C. earned, coccinellid predatörlerden Coccinella semptempunctata L., Adonia variegata Goeze ve Scymnus spp. belirlenmiştir. Belirtilen bu yararlı türlerin populasyonu, mevsim başında değişik zararlılara bağlı olarak artmış, çiçek thripslerinin görüldüğü dönemde nispeten düşük oranda olsa da görülmüşlerdir. Predator türlerden O. niger pamuk bitkilerinin çoğunlukla çiçeklenme periyodunda ve thrips populasyonunun pamuk çiçeklerinde görülmesinden önce çiçeklerde belirlenmiştir. O. niger populasyonunun tepe noktasına ulaşmasından sonra thrips populasyonunda belirgin bir düşüş görülmüştür. Çiçeklerde O. niger erginlerinin pamuk çiçeklerinde polenler ile beslendiği de gözlenmiştir.

Investigation on relationship between the population fluctuations of Frankliniella intonsa (Trybom), Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) and population development of polyphagous predators in cotton field Relationship between the population of flower thrips, Frankliniella intonsa (Trybom) and Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) and population development of polyphagous predators in cotton fields in Çukurova region were studied in year 1996 and 1997. Polyphagous predators, Chrysoperla cornea (Stephens), Deraeocoris pallens Reut and Orius niger Wolff were more abundant than other predators inhabiting the cotton fields. Populations of Coccinella septempunctata L., Adonia variegata Goeze, Scymnus spp., C. cornea and D. pallens were determined in early season. Populations of these beneficial insects increased depending on the populations of harmful insects in early season and they also maintained their relatively low population densities during the infestations of flower thrips species to cotton. O. niger were mostly found on flowers at blossoming period of plant and prior to occurrence of flower thrips on cotton flowers. O. niger were more related to population of thrips. Populations of thrips species decreased dramatically after peak densities of O. niger. It was also observed that O. niger were feeding on pollen of cotton flowers.
