Böcekler yaşamı boyunca konukçu bitkileri ile karşılıklı ilişki içerisindedirler. Bu ilişki böceklerin bir takım yaşamsal faaliyetlerini gerçekleştirme ihtiyacı nedeniyle ortaya çıkmakta ve henüz ergin dişi birey yumurtasını konukçu bitki üzerine bırakmadan önce başlamaktadır. Yani böcekler sadece aktif olduğu dönemde değil, yumurta döneminde de konukçu bitkileriyle ilişki içerisindedirler. Konukçu bitki ile böcek yumurtası arasındaki bu ilişkiler tek yönlü olmayıp, konukçu bitkiler böcek yumurtasının kalitesi ve embriyosunun gelişimini etkilerken, böcek yumurtaları da konukçu bitkinin primer ve sekonder metabolitlerini değiştirebilirler. Bu çalışmada böcek ile konukçu bitki arasındaki ilişkilere değinilmiş ve özellikle böcek yumurtası ile konukçu bitki arasındaki karşılıklı ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Ayrıca bitki koruma açısından bu ilişkinin önemi açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır.

Insects are in interactions with their host plants throughout their life. These interactions come out by the reason of the requirement of performing their vital activities, and they begin before adult female deposits eggs on the host plant. That is, insects do not have any interactions with their host plants only during actively feeding stages but also during egg stage. This interaction between the host plant and insect egg is not unidirectional. While the host plant affects insect egg quality and embryonic development, insect eggs can change the primary and secondary metabolites of the host plant. In this review, insect-host plant interactions are discussed and especially interactions between the host plant and insect eggs have been compiled. Also, the importance of these interactions have been attempted to be explained in terms of plant protection.
