Şubat 1933 yılında neşredilmeye başlanmış ve Ağustos 1941 yılında çıkan 102. sayısı ile çalışmamıza konu olan birinci serisini tamamlayan Ülkü mecmuası, halkevlerinin merkezî yayın organıdır ve Ankara'da neşredilmiştir. Siyasî bir gaye ile kurulan Ülkü, dil ve edebiyat yazılarına gayesine paralel olması şartıyla sınırlı olarak yer vermiş, birinci serinin sonlarına doğru bu tarz yazılarda bir yoğunlaşma görülmekle birlikte Yeni Türk Edebiyatına dahil edebilecek yazılar dil ve bilhassa Halk Edebiyatına dair yazılara nispetle mecmuanın sayfalarında daha az yere sahip olmuştur. Bu çalışmada öncelikle Ülkü mecmuasının fizikî yapısı ele alınmış, daha sonra mecmuanın muhtevası genel hatlarıyla belirlenip Yeni Türk Edebiyatı sahasına dahil malzeme tespit edilmiştir. Tespit edilen malzeme türlerine göre tetkik, şiir, hikâye, bibliyografya vb. başlıklar altında tasnif edilerek değerlendirilmeye tabi tutulmuştur.

The Ülkü journal was first published in February 1933, and it celebrated its 102nd anniversary in August 1941 and thereby, it completed the run of its first series that comprises the subject of our study. The journal is the official publication of Halkevleri published in Ankara. Established with political motives, it contained writings on language and literature to the extent that they matched its mission. Even though the percentage of such works intensified towards the end of the first series, those writings that can be included into the New Turkish Literature occupied lesser space in comparison to the writings belonging to the Folk Literature. This study has first looked into the stylistic structure of the journal followed by a general outline of its contents. In the meantime, the material falling under the New Turkish Literature has been detected and subjected to an evaluation based on a classification of the genre as in poetry, story and bibliography.
