THE USE OF TECHNICAL AND SMART TEXTILES IN SPORTS CLOTHING DESIGN

With the changing lifestyle, the number of people doing sports and the time allocated to sports are increasing day by day. Developing technology has had an impact on consumers' expectations from clothing. Users expect functional features as well as aesthetic features from sportswear. With the widespread use of technical and smart textiles in sportswear, these expectations of consumers can be met at the same time. High levels of comfort and easy care have become the basic expectation from all sportswear. Sportswear that reacts to environmental influences or measures performance commercially is available in the market. Considering the competition in the sportswear market and the growth trends of the market, it is seen that it is very important for designers to follow the developments related to technical / smart textiles. In this study, technical and smart textile products have been defined and classified, and sportswear that has functional properties with the use of these textile products has been evaluated. The study examines sportswear design demands with different sample applications in line with market trends.
