Study on Fruit Staining of Citrus in the Eastern Mediterranean Region of Turkey
Çalışma, Doğu Akdeniz Bölgesi’nde Turunçgillerde meyve lekelenmeleri ve nedenlerini belirlemek için 2004 ve 2005 yıllarında yürütülmüştür. Bu amaçla, turunçgil yetiştiriciliğinin önemli olduğu Adana, Mersin ve Hatay illerinde bulunan 15 paketleme evinde farklı ülkelere ihraç edilen ürünlerdeki lekelenme durumu ve lekeli meyve miktarı tespit edilmiştir. Paketleme evlerine gelen ve standart paketleme evi uygulaması yapıldıktan sonra ıskartaya ayrılan meyvelerden 500 şer adet meyve 0-4 skalasına göre incelenmiştir. Paketleme evine gelen meyvelerde lekelenme etmenine en fazla portakal çeşitlerinde rastlanmasına karşın, ıskartaya ayrılan meyvelerde en fazla altıntopta belirlenmiştir. Portakal çeşitlerinden Washington Navel ’in lekelenme etmenlerine Valencia ’dan daha hassas olduğu saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, lekelenmenin görüldüğü portakal meyvelerinde sekiz farklı thrips türü; Pezothrips kellyanus (Bagnall), Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande), Thrips meridionalis (Priesner), Thrips tabaci (Lindeman), Thrips major (Uzel), Haplothrips reuteri (Hinds), Haplothrips distinguendus (Uzel) ve Melonathrips sp., (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) tespit edilmiştir. Bu trips türlerinden P. kellyanus Doğu Akdeniz Bölgesi için yeni kayıttır. Meyvelerdeki lekelenmelerin thrips türlerinden kaynaklanabileceği düşünülmektedir. Paketleme evine gelen ve ıskartaya ayrılan limon meyvelerinde lekelenme etmeni ikinci derecede önemli bulunmuştur. Bu meyvelerde daha çok rüzgarın etkisi ile mekanik zararlanmalar saptanmıştır
Study on Fruit Staining of Citrus in the Eastern Mediterranean Region of Turkey
The study was carried out to determine the reasons for fruit staining of citrus in the Eastern Mediterranean Region in 2004 and 2005. For this purpose, citrus farming which is important in Adana, Mersin and Hatay provinces in the 15 packing houses, stained amount of fruits and staining status on products are exported to different countries were determined. From fruits coming to packing houses and discarded from fruits after application of standard packing house, 500 of fruits based on 0-4 scale were examined. Although agent which cause to staining of the fruits coming to packing houses was encountered in the most varieties of oranges, a maximum was determined in grapefruit in the fruits were discarded. From orange varieties, Washington Navel was found to be more sensitive to staining agents than Valencia. In addition, the staining observed in orange fruits, eight different thrips species Pezothrips kellyanus (Bagnall), Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande), Thrips meridionalis (Priesner), Thrips tabaci (Lindeman), Thrips major (Uzel), Haplothrips reuteri (Hinds), Haplothrips distinguendus (Uzel) and Melonathrips sp., (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) were determined. P. kellyanus is a new record from these species of trips for Eastern Mediterranean Region. Fruits of staining are thought to be caused by trips species. Staining agent was found significant in the second degree in lemon fruits coming to packing houses and discarded from fruits
