Investigation of the Personality Treats of Futsal Players in Türkiye with Regard to the Sports Level

The aim of this study was to examine the personality traits of futsal players in Türkiye with regard to their sports levels. The sample of the study consisted of 56 futsal players (age=23.96±4.81) competing in the TFF Futsal league and voluntarily participating in this study. It is seen that the training age of the futsal players participating in the study was 12.64±4.48 years. Participants were divided into three categories as league players (n=27), U-19national(n=14) and national team (n=15) players. Disproportional stratified sampling method was used to determine the sample of the study. A personal information form was used to determine participant demographics, and the Ten-Item Personality Scale developed by Gosling et al. (2003) and adapted into Turkish by Atak (2013) was used to determine participants' personality traits. In order to analyze the data obtained from the study, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for inter group comparison, and Bonferroni test was used for Post Hoc comparisons of significant differences. According to analysis, no significant difference was observed in the dimensions of openness to experience, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism according to sports levels (p>.05), while there was a significant difference between national team players and league players in the dimension of responsibility (p<.05). Based on this result, it is thought that it is important to consider the personality traits of the futsal players as well as the performance evaluation while selecting the athletes for the national team.
