Bu makale Norveçli Türkolog B. Brendemoen'un The Turkish Dialects of Trabzon adlı iki ciltlik eserinin önce ana çizgileri ile bir özetini veren, sonra da yazarın analiz cildinde yaptığı temel yanılgıları düzeltmek üzere tarihi kaynaklara, arşiv belgelerine ve bu konuda yapılan yazarın görmediği araştırmalara dayanarak Trabzon ve yöresi ağızlarının, yazarın savunduğu biçimde bir A Rum alt tabakası ile bir B Türkçe üst tabakanın iç içe karışıp kaynaşması ile değil, bir A Kuman-Kıpçak Türkçesi alt tabakası ile Eski Anadolu Türkçesine dayanan bir B üst tabakanın karışıp kaynaşması ve tarihi gelişmesi ile oluştuğunu ortaya koyan bir araştırma inceleme yazısıdır.

This article summarizes the main points of Norwegian Turkologist Bernt Brendemoen's two volume book titled as The Turkish Dialects of Trabzon (Their Phonology and Historical Development). In order to correct the mistakes, which the writer made in the analysis volume of the book, the article gives documented information based on the historical researches, archive documents and other resources, which the writer did not search. In his book, Prof. Brendemoen argues that the dialects of Trabzon and its environment are formed from the mixing of the A Greek (and Armenian a little) substrate shift and B Turkish superstrate. However, in this article it is argued that, this is not the case. The truth is that the dialects of Trabzon and its environment are formed from the mixing and historical  development  of  A  Kuman-Kzp9ak  Turkish  substrate  shift  and  Bsuperstrate based on the old Anatolian Turkish.
