Ağızlar dilin ölçünlü hâline göre birbirinden farklı görünümde dil ögelerinin kullanımına müsait alanlardır. Bu durum aynı zamanda ilgili ağız yöresinin o dil için farklı seçenekleri de içinde saklayan birer kaynak durumunda olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu bağlamda Türkiye Türkçesi ağızları ölçünlü dilden az veya çok ayrılan çeşitli derecelerdeki dil ögelerini bünyelerinde barındırmaktadır. Doğu grubu ağızları içinde yer alan Kars ili ağızları da kullanım özelliği bakımından birbirinden farklı ve zengin örnekler sunabilecek dil unsurlarını içermektedir. Bunlardan biri de Türkçede ek fiilin olumsuz biçimi yapılırken yararlanılan “değil”in kullanımıyla ilgilidir. Bu çalışmada Ahmet Bican Ercilasun tarafından kaleme alınan Kars İli Ağızları adlı eserdeki toplam 97 metin taranarak “değil”in farklı söyleniş biçimleri Kars ilinin alt ağız gruplarına göre değerlendirilmeye çalışılacaktır
