Kulak burun boğaz uzmanlık tezleri yayına dönüşüyor mu?

Amaç: Bu çalışmada Kulak Burun Boğaz KBB tezlerinde yayınlanma oranı ve bununla ilgili olası faktörlerin incelenmesi amaçlandı.Hastalar ve Yöntemler: Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu Başkanlığı internet veritabanı aracılığıyla, ülkemizdeki tıp fakülteleri ve Sağlık Bakanlığı’na bağlı eğitim ve araştırma hastanelerinden, 2007 ile 2012 yılları arasında KBB Anabilim Dalı AD , KBB Hastalıkları AD ve KBB ve Baş Boyun Cerrahisi AD adlı bilim dallarından sisteme girilmiş olan tıpta uzmanlık tezleri, yapıldıkları kurum, şehir, yazar cinsiyeti, yayınlanma durumu, yayına ait özellikler ve hekimlere ait diğer özellikler açısından incelendi.Bulgular: Toplam 368 KBB tezi konulara göre ele alındığında, 131 tez otoloji-nörootoloji, 113 tez rinoloji, 93 tez larengoloji-baş boyun cerrahisi ve 31 tez de pediatrik kulak burun boğaz hastalıkları kapsamındaydı. Türe göre 262 tez klinik ileriye dönük, 75 tez hayvan deneyi ve 31 tez de geriye dönük dosya taraması şeklinde idi. Konulara göre en fazla pediatrik KBB tezlerinin yayına dönüşmüş olduğu %41 görüldü. Prospektif çalışmaların %37.3’ü, hayvan deneylerinin %37.7’si, geriye dönük araştırmaların ise %16’sının yayına dönüşmüş olduğu gözlendi. Ulusal yayınların 23’ü PubMed Central PMC , 25’i Ulakbim ve üçü Science Citation Index SCI -Expanded; uluslararası yayınların ise yedisi PMC, 38’i SCI-Expanded ve 34’ü SCI dizinindeydi.Sonuç: Bu çalışmanın sonucunda 2007-2012 yılları arasında KBB uzmanlık tezlerinin yayına dönüşme oranı %35.6 olarak bulunmuştur

Do the otorhinolaryngology specialization theses turn into publications?

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the publication rate of Otolaryngology theses and possible related factors affecting it. Patients and Methods: The otolaryngology theses that were submitted between 2007 and 2012 to the official website database of Presidency of the Council of Higher Education through the Department of Otolaryngology, Diseases of Otolaryngology, and Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery of medical faculties in our country and the education and research hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health were evaluated for the institution, city, author gender, publication status, parameters about the published article and other characteristics of the physicians. Results: When the total of 368 theses were examined according to their topics, 131 were about otology-neurotology, 113 about rhinology, 93 about laryngology-head and neck surgery, and 31 about pediatric Otolaryngology. According to the genre of the theses, 262 were clinical prospective, 75 were animal experiments and 31 were retrospective file scanning. The highest publication rate of topics was in pediatric Otolaryngology 41% . We observed that the 37.3% of prospective studies, 37.7% of animal experiments and 16% of the retrospective theses were published. Concerning indexes, national publications included 23 PubMed Central PMC , 25 Ulakbim, and three Science Citation Index SCI -Expanded; whereas international ones were comprised of seven PMC, 38 SCI-Expanded, and 34 SCI. Conclusion: As a results of this study, we found the publication rate of Otolaryngology theses between 2007 and 2012 to be 35.6%.
