Benedict'in The Rule isimli eseri çerçevesinde ruhbânlık ve tekke hayatına bir bakış

Revisiting the prieshood and monastic life from the scope of Benedict's work titled The Rule

There have always been claims in orientalist sources that Sufism was influencedby Christian monasticism. This claim was based upon the similarities of thesetwo movements on the institutional level. However, there are not many rese arches on the texts of these two movements. This article intends to compareSt. Benedict’s The Rule with Suhrawardi’s Awarif, since both these works werewritten to organize the spiritual life, the latter in the sufi lodges and the formerin the monasteries. It will endeavor to compare them and show both the diffe rences as well as similarities of sufism with monastic life.
