Osmanlı-Türk modernleşmesinin temel taşlarından olan Jön Türkler hareketi ve İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti; Cumhuriyet’in ilanı sonrasında Mustafa Kemal Atatürk ve arkadaşlarının gerçekleştireceği birçok önemli reformun temellerini atmış ve yeni devletin ve Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi’nin omurgasını oluşturmuştur. İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti’nin modernleşme çabaları yalnızca askeri düzeyde kalmamış ve ekonomi, eğitim, kültür-sanat ve kadın hakları gibi birçok alana yayılmıştır.

Young Turks movement and Committee of Union and Progress, one of the cornerstones in Ottoman-Turkish modernization, laid the foundations of modernization reforms that would be realized in the single-party period by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his friends and constituted the backbones of the new republic and Republican People’s Party. Modernization reforms of the CUP were not only related to military issues, but also enclosed modernization reforms in terms of economic, educational and cultural domains and women rights.
