Bilateral triceps sternocleidomastoid muscle: Case report

During the dissection of a 72-year-old male cadaver for medical education, cervical region was dissected. The skin, the platysma muscle, and the superficial vessels were removed, and the sternocleidomastoid muscles were exposed. In the cervical region bilateral third head of the sternocleidomastoid muscles were observed. One of these head was arising from the sternum, and the other two heads were arising from clavicle. It is important to know variations of sternocleidomastoid muscles, for radiological examinations and in order to avoid complications of surgical procedures
