Geç Antik Dönem'de Konane (? ???????, ?????????????????)

Kuzeybatı Pisidia üzerine odaklanan IAS araştırmalarında, 2009 yılında, Konane (Roma Conana) antik kentinin bulunduğu Gönen modern köyü çevresi araştırıldı. Şehre ait ilk bilgilere, en erken örnekleri birinci yüzyıla tarihlenen sikkeler üzerinden ulaşılır. Edebi kaynaklar ise nadiren Konane hakkında bilgi içerir. İkinci yy coğrafyacısı Ptolemaios (5.5.5) kenti Apollonia ve Seleukeia Sidera ile birlikte "Frig Pisidia" alt kategorisi altına yerleştirir. Konane, 7. ve 8. yüzyıllarda İstanbul'da derlenmiş piskopos listelerinde görülür. Kent, Pisidia Antiokheiası Başpiskoposu altında sınıflandırılmıştır. Bir süre için Iustinianupolis (?????????????????) olarak yeniden adlandırılan kent daha sonra geri eski adıyla anılır. Kentin piskoposu ya da kilise temsilcileri simgeleri teşrifleriyle İkonalar'ın onurlandırılması hususunu görüşmek üzere MS 787 yılında İznik'te toplanan İkinci Konsey'de görünürler. Bu geç kaynaklara ek olarak, Aziz Zosimos hikâyesinin anlatıldığı bir Hıristiyan metinde kentten bahsedilir. Bu çalışmada ise yukarıda bahsedilen literatür verileri ve yüzey araştırmaları sonucunda ele geçen buluntulardan hareketle, kentin Geç Antik Dönem görünümü ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır.

Konane (? ???????, ?????????????????) in Late Antiquity

The focus of research for Isparta Archaeological Survey (IAS) is the territory of northwestern Pisidia; and in 2009 we investigated the area around the modern village of Gönen, which lies 24 km north of Isparta and where ancient Konane (Roman Conana) was located. The first attestation of the Konane can be found on coins, and the earliest known examples are dated to the first century BC. Literary sources, on the other hand, rarely speak about Konane. Ptolemy, the second-century AD geographer (5.5.5), places the city along with Apollonia and Seleukeia Sidera under the sub-category of "Phrygian Pisidia". Konane appears in the lists of Bishoprics compiled in Constantinople during the 7th and 8th centuries AD. The town was classified under the Archbishop of Pisidian Antioch, and it appears that it was renamed as Iustinianupolis (?????????????????) for a certain period of time, but then reverted back to its old name. The town's bishop or church representative made an appearance at the Second Council of Nicea in 787 AD, which was convened to discuss the restoration of the honoring of icons. In addition to these late sources, the city is mentioned in a Christian text that recounts the story of Saint Zosimos. In this study, in the light of the literature data and findings from surveys, we attempt to present the appearance of the city in Late Antiquity.
