Su miktarı % 79.19-85.06 (yaş ağırlığın), kuru ağırlığın %18.42-22.80'i kül, %12.00-23.87'i protein, %1.21-3.25'i yağ olarak bulunmuştur. Pigmentlerin miktarları ise nisan ayında maksimum, temmuz ayında ise minumum düzeyde saptanmıştır, inorganik maddelerden (kuru ağırlıkta) azot %1.92-3.82, fosfor 3800-6950 ppm, potasyum 26600-48000 pm, sodyum 4800-7100 ppm, kalsiyum 1350-2200 ppm, magnesyum % 0.10-0.18, demir 310-530 ppm, bakır 2.01-3.84 ppm, çinko 40.02-55.14 ppm, manganez 12.41-33.12 ppm arasında tespit edilmiştir.

Seasonal changes in composition of petalonia fascia (O.F.Müll.) Kuntze

Seasonal changes in composition o/Petalonia fascia (O.F.Miill) Kuntze. In this investigation the seasonal changes in biochemical composition of one of benthic algae Petalonia fascia which belongs to divisio of Phaeophyta and its potential use as raw material were also estimated. The samples were collected from littoral zone of Narhdere station of Izmir Bay seasonally. The parameters had been determined as contents of water, ash, protein, fat and as mineral matters nitrogen, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, manganese. Additionally the amounts of chlorophyl a, chlorophyl b, charetenoides were also determined. According to the results of chemical analyses, water, ash, protein and fat contents were ranged between 79.19-85.06% (wet weight), 18.42-22.80% (dry weight), 12.00-23.87%, 1.21-3.25% respectively. The amount of pigments were determined as maximum level in April and in minimum level in July. Inorganic materials such as nitrogen were found 1.92-3.82%, phosphorus 3800-6950 ppm, potassium 26600-48000 ppm, sodium 4800-7100 ppm, calcium 1350-2200 ppm, magnesium 0.10-0.18 % (dry weight), iron 310-530 ppm, copper 2.01-3.84 ppm, zinc 40.02-55.14 ppm, manganese 12.41-33.12 ppm were determined.
