Distribution of pelagic amphipods (Hyperiidea, Amphipoda) in surface waters of Izmir Bay. In order to determine the pelagic amphipods and their distribution in İzmir Bay, this study has been carried out from April 2000 to April 2005. Samples were taken horizontally surface in 7 stations by using Unesco WP2 plankton net with a mesh size of 200 μm. As a result of the examination of the sampled material, a total of 10 taxa belongs to 7 families were determined. Six of them are firstly recorded from İzmir Bay Hyperoides longipes, Leptocotis tenuirostris, Paraphronima crassipes, Parathemisto gracilipes, Phronima stebbeingi, Platyscelus serratulus. The pelagic amphipods were not found in the inner bay and in the middle bay.
