Küçük Menderes Nehri' nin (Selçuk, İzmir) aşağı havzasındaki kirliliğin makro bentik omurgasızlar kullanılarak saptanması

K.Menderes Nehri’nin Selçuk ilçesi sınırları içerisinde kalan aşağı havzasında, Mayıs 2003 ile Nisan 2004 tarihleri arasında aylık olarak 6 istasyondan makro bentik omurgasız örneklemeleri yapılmıştır. Makro bentik örnekler, Ekman Grab ile alınan çamur örneklerinin 500 μm göz açıklığındaki elekten geçirilmesiyle elde edilmiş olup %4’lük formolde fikse edilmişlerdir. Toplanan bentik materyal kalitatif ve kantitatif olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Kantitatif analizlerde frekans ve baskınlık indeksleri kullanılmıştır. Bentik omurgasızlardan yararlanılarak su kalitesinin belirlenmesi için Belçika Biyotik İndeksi’nden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda Mollusca, Artropoda ve Annelida’ya dahil toplam 44 takson saptanmıştır. Yapılan kimyasal ve biyolojik tayinler sonucunda, Küçük Menderes Nehrinin su kalitesi seviyesinin “Aşırı Kirli Sular” grubuna girdiği tespit edilmiştir.

Determination of pollution at lower basin of Küçük Menderes River (Selçuk, İzmir) by using macro benthic invertebrates

At the lower sides of Küçük Menderes River, near Selçuk district, macro benthic invertebrates’ samplings were performed monthly at six stations between May 2003 and April 2004. Macro benthic samples were obtained by sifting of mud samples, taken by an Ekman Grab, with a 500 μm mesh sized sieve and then they were fixed with 4% formalin solution. Collected benthic materials were studied both qualitative and quantitatively. In quantitative analysis, frequency and dominancy indices were used. In order to determine the water quality by using macro benthic invertebrates, Belgium Biotical Index was used. As a consequence, 44 taxa belonging to Mollusca, Arthropoda and Annelida were determined. As a result of chemical and biological indications, the water quality level of Küçük Menderes River was included to “Heavily Polluted Waters” group.
