Tıp Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin Eğitim-Öğretim Süreçlerinde Anlık Mesajlaşma Uygulamaları Kullanımı: WhatsApp Örneği

Tıp fakültelerinde öğrenimlerine devam edenöğrenciler üzerinde gerçekleştirilen çalışmada, anlıkmesajlaşma uygulaması WhatsApp'ın tercih edilmenedenleri ve eğitim-öğretim sürecinde kullanımınınbelirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Tarama modelindetasarlanan araştırmada, 23 öğrenciyle açık uçlu soruformu ve 6 öğrenciyle yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşmetekniği birlikte kullanılarak yöntemsel çeşitlemeyapılmıştır. Böylece farklı nitelikteki verilerin birbirinidenetlemesine, karşılaştırılmasına ve doğrulamasınaolanak sağlanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin içerik analizive fenomenolojik analiz yöntemiyle çözümlendiğiçalışmada, verilerin ve öğrenci paylaşımlarına yönelikekran görüntülerinin bir kısmı olduğu gibi verilmiştir.Bu çerçevede gerçekleştirilen araştırma sonucundaWhatsApp uygulamasının Tıp Fakültesi öğrencileritarafından tercih edilmesinde; kullanım kolaylığı,maliyetinin olmaması, kolay erişilebilir olması,iletişimde hızlı olması ve güvenli olmasının etkiliolduğu belirlenmiştir. Uygulamanın eğitim-öğretimsürecinde ise; öğrenciler arası etkileşim, her zamanve her yerde etkileşim, kaynak ve materyalpaylaşımı, işbirlikli çalışma ortamı sağlamak veakademik destek amacıyla kullanıldığı sonucunaulaşılmıştır. Elde dilen sonuçlar uygulamanın, herzaman ve her yer de öğrenme ile işbirlikli öğrenmekapsamında faydalı bir araç olarak kullanılabileceğinive yapılandırılmamış öğrenme ortamı sağlamapotansiyeline sahip olduğunu göstermektedir.

The Use of Instant Messaging Applications in the Education of Medical Students: WhatsApp Case

This study aimed to find out the use of WhatsAppinstant messaging application among the medicalstudents and the reasons why they preferWhatsApp for educational purposes. In the surveyresearch triangulation technique was adopted; anopen-ended questionnaire was conducted among23 students along with semi-structured interviewswith 6 students. Thus, the data obtained by usingdifferent methods could be crosschecked,compared and validated. Content andphenomenological analysis methods wereemployed in the analysis of the data and some ofthe screenshots including the data and posts bythe students were given as they are. The results ofthe research show that medical students preferWhatsApp, because it's friendly, free of charge,easily accessible, fast and safe. The educationalinferences from the study suggest that WhatsApphas been used among students for interactionanywhere and anytime, sharing resources andmaterials, providing collaborative workenvironment and academic support. The resultsalso demonstrated that WhatsApp could be usefulfor learning anywhere and anytime and forcollaborative learning; it has the potential toprovide unstructured learning environment.
