A COMPARISON ON SOME PHYSICAL FITNESS AND BODY COMPOSITION VALUES IN AMERICAN FOOTBALL PLAYERS ACCORDING TO THEIR POSITIONS IN THE GAME

The purpose of the study is to compare the physical fitness characteristics and body compositions of American football players according to their positions in the game. A total of 27 (guards: 13, backfield players:14) male American football players from a university team voluntarily participated in this study. For the determination of body composition and somatotype components, subjects' height, body mass, skinfold thickness and anthropometric measurements were taken. Body fat percentage was determined by Acikada formula (1991), and somatotype components were determined by using the Heath-Carter System. The Wingate Anaerobic Power Test (WAnT), squat jump (SJ), countermovement jump (CMJ), repeated jump and 10-20-30 meters sprint times were used for the determination of anaerobic performance.
