Terry Eagleton tarafından yazılan ve postmodernist kuramlara yoğunlaşan Holy Terror, metne adını veren ve birbirleriyle tezat içindeymiş gibi görünen “holy” ve “terror” kelimelerinin bir arada varoluşuna paralel şekilde “terör” kavramını kutsallık bağlamında teolojiye dayandırarak yeniden inşa eder.

Contrary to popular opinion, opposite concepts are not completely abstracted from each other. Therefore, it would be easy way to base the source of terrors on evil only. Just as the god who creates everything is not one-sided, neither man nor life is unilateral. The two biases, even in the god who gives life to human beings, manifest themselves in the universe and man. Terrorism, which is a concept of life, is not possible to isolate from the duality. For this reason, it is required that making sense of terror from historical, metaphysical, political and theological perspective to understand it. Terry Eagleton’s Holy Terror concentrating on postmodernist theories, rebuilds the concept of "terror" in the context of sanctity based on theology, parallel to the coexistence of the words "holy" and "terror" that seem to contradict each other.
