Bu çaly?ma; üniversite ö?rencilerinin sigara kullanma durumunun beslenme aly?kanlyklary üzerine etkisini belirlemek amacyyla planlanmy?tyr. Verilerin de?erlendirilmesinde, SPSS 13 paket programy kullanylmy?tyr. Her soru ile ilgili mutlak ve % de?erleri gösteren tablolar hazyrlanmy? ve gerekli aritmetik ortalamalar alynmy?tyr. Veriler, cinsiyet ve sigara kullanma de?i?kenleri dikkate alynarak de?erlendirilmi?tir. Ara?tyrmaya katylan kyz ö?rencilerin BKI ortalamasy 20.20±0.17 kg/m2, erkek ö?rencilerin 23.22±0.25 kg/m2 olup, sigara içenlerin 21.40±0.22 kg/m2, içmeyenlerin 22.02±0.26 kg/m2'dir. Ö?rencilerin ço?unlu?u lise döneminde, aile ve arkada? çevresinin etkisiyle sigaraya ba?lamy?tyr. Kyz ö?rencilerin %69.7'sinin enerji, %36.2'sinin protein, %28.3'ünün kalsiyum, %30.3'ünün demir, %31.6'synyn C vitamini, erkek ö?rencilerin %76.9'unun enerji, %21.7'sinin protein, %25.0'inin kalsiyum, %25.7'sinin demir, %35.5'inin C vitamini alymlary günlük önerilen alym miktarynyn (DRI) %67-133'ü arasynda saptanmy?tyr. NUTRITIONAL HABITS AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF SMOKING AND NON-SMOKING UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

This study was planned to determine the effects of smoking habits on nutritional habits of the university students. In the evaluation of the data SPSS 13 statistical package program was used. For each question tables were made including absolute and % values and necessary arithmetical means were taken. The data were evaluated by considering the gender and smoking habits variables. The BMI mean of the female students in the study was 20.20±0.17 kg/m2, while it was 23.22+0.25 kg/m2 in male students. Smokers 21.40±0.22 kg/m2 while in non smokers 22.02+0.26 kg/m2. Most of the students started smoking in high school period with their families' and friends' environments influence. The daily recommended Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) were determined as between 67-133% which in female students' 69.7% energy, 36.2% protein, 28.3% calcium, 30.3% iron, 31.6% Vitamin C and in male students' 76.9% energy, 21.7% protein, 25.0 calcium, 25.7% iron, 35.5% Vitamin C.
