Gelişmeleri Kaçırma Korkusuna (GKK) Bütüncül Bir Bakış: Karma Bir Araştırma

Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının gelişmeleri kaçırma korkusu (GKK) düzeylerini ve deneyimlerini ortaya koymaktır. GKK; kişinin, memnun edici ve kendisi için faydalı olabilecek gelişmeleri ve fırsatları kaçırdığında hissettiği sinirlilik, endişe ve yetersizlik duygularıdır. Karma araştırma niteliğindeki bu çalışmada, nicel ve nitel yöntemler arasında baskın bir önceliğin olmadığı yakınsayan paralel (eş zamanlı) desen kullanılmıştır. Nicel veriler için bir kamu üniversitesinin eğitim fakültesinde öğrenim gören 338 öğretmen adayına FoMO Ölçeği (Mazlum ve Atalay, 2022) uygulanmıştır. Nitel kısımda ise aykırı durum örnekleme ile GKK’yi yoğun şekilde yaşadığı tespit edilen 15 öğretmen adayı çalışma gurubuna seçilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları öğretmen adaylarının, özel benliklerinden kaynaklanan bireysel GKK’yi daha fazla yaşadıklarını göstermektedir. Sosyal GKK’nin özellikle üniversitenin ilk yıllarında, sosyal medyayı haddinden fazla kullananlarda ve kadın öğretmen adaylarında daha fazla yaşandığı ortaya koyulmuştur. Dahası öğretmen adayları; ameliyatlı olma, bir hastaya refakat etme veya yakın akrabanın vefatı gibi mücbir sebeplere rağmen bu korkuya engel olamamaktadır. Sınırlı sayıdaki çalışmada nicel yönden test edilen bireysel-sosyal GKK ayrımının, bu çalışmada betimleyici nitelikteki gerçek deneyimlerle güçlü şekilde desteklenmesi özgün değer taşımaktadır. Öğretmen adayları için GKK, her türlü girişime rağmen çoğunlukla kalıcı çözüm getirilemeyen ve süregiden bir duygu olarak kalsa da bu araştırmanın katılımcılar üzerinde anlamlı ve kayda değer bir farkındalık kazandırdığının tespit edilmesi heyecan vericidir.
