Eserlerinin yazılış tarihinden, on dördüncü yüzyılın sonları ile on beşinci yüzyılınilk yarısında yaşadığı anlaşılan Ârif (ö.1438’den sonra)in hayatı hakkında kaynaklardabilgi yoktur. II. Murad döneminde(1421-51) kaleme aldığı dinî, ahlâkî ve tasavvufînasihat-name türünde Mürşidü’l-‘Ubbâd; dinî ve tasavvufî Nüsha-ı ‘Âlem; Mevlidü’n-Nebî, Mi‘râcü’n-Nebî ve Vefâtü’n-Nebî isimli, tamamen telifî eserleri bir hamseniteliğindedir. Bu sebeple, Ârif ve eserlerinin tespiti Türk Edebiyatı tarihi bakımından önemlidir.

When referred to his works Ârif (842 / after 1438) is thought to have lived between the end of the fourteenth century and the first half of the fifteenth century. However, there is no information about either his life or works in the old records / literature. His works written during the period of Murad II (1421-1451) are Murşidü’l- ‘Ubbâd, which comes in the form of religious, moral, and mystical admonition (nasihatnâme); Nusha-i ‘Âlem, Mevlidü’n-Nebî, Mi’râcü’n-Nebî, Vefâtü’n-Nebî are religious and mystical, too. These five works all together may be called a ‘hamse’. Especially for this reason a study that will be held on Ârif and his works will be very important for the history of Turkish Literature.
