Lawrence Weiner'in Grafik Dili
Lawrence Weiner (d.1942, New York) alışılagelmiş nesnelliğin ötesindeki varlıkları detaylı imgeler yerine yalın göstergelerle dile getirir.Weiner'in resim ve heykel ile başlayan sanatsal yolculuğu, nesnelerin kendisi yerine nesneleri temsil eden adların ve bulundukları ortamla ilişkilerinin yer aldığı, grafik dile ve edebiyata daha yakın bulunabilecek bir bakışa sahip olarak devam etmiştir. Tipografinin ağırlıklı olduğu enstalasyon ve çizimleri, kağıdı, kitap ve defterleri farklı kompozisyon ve mizanpaj varyasyonlarıyla anlamlandırması,duvarı mekân ile birlikte bir çevresel grafik tasarımcı gibi ama bir sanatçı bağımsızlığındaele alarak tipografiyle yeni anlamlar ve alanlar katması, Weiner'i grafik tasarımcı gözüyle de incelenmesi şart ustalardan biri kılar.
THE GRAPHIC LANGUAGE OF LAWRENCE WEINER
Lawrence Weiner (d.1942, New York) articulates existence beyond common physicality with simple signs rahter than detailed imagery. Weiner s journey of art which started with painting and sculpture, continued with a language in a perspective that can be found closer to graphic language or literature,which included the name of the objectinstead of the object itself and its relation to its environment. His installations and drawings in which typography dominates, his ability to give meaning to a piece of paper, to a book or a notebook with varied composition and mise en page, his approach to the wall together with the space like an environmental graphic designer but with the independence of an artist that adds new meanings and scope to typography makes Weiner a master who needs to be explored by the graphic designer.
