Süt Çocuğunda Pnömoniyle Seyreden Herpes Simplex Virüs

Herpes simplex virüs (HSV)’ün küçük çocuklarda en sık klinikte yol açtığı tablo herpetik gingivostomatit ’tir. HSV tip 1 genel olarak ağır immün yetmezlikli çocuklarda olmak üzere, pulmoner hastalıklara yol açabilir. Ateş, dispne, prodüktif öksürük, göğüs ağrısı, bronkospazm HSV’nin neden olduğu alt solunum yolu enfeksiyonuna bağlı en sık görülen ama spesifik olmayan semptomlardır. Herpes labialis veya orofaringeal lezyonlar herpes simpleks pnömonisine eşlik edebilir. Sağlıklı çocuklarda herpes simpleks enfeksiyonu ve yol açtığı pnömoni gibi komplikasyonlar çok nadir görülür. Ateş, ağız çevresi ve vücutta döküntüyle beraber hırıltı şikâyeti olan 4 aylık kız hasta pnömoni ile birlikte seyreden herpes simplex virüse dikkat çekmek amacıyla sunuldu.

Herpes Simplex Virus Presenting with Pneumonia in an Infant

Herpetic gingivostomatitis is the most common clinical manifestation of primary herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection in young children. HSV type 1 also has been associated with pneumonia in immunocompromised hosts. Fever, productive cough, dyspnea, bronchospasm and or chest pain are mentioned as the most frequent clinical manifestations of HSV lower respiratory tract infection, although none of these symptoms is specific. Herpes labialis and oropharyngeal lesions can accompany to the pneumonia. HSV-associated infections and pneumonia is rarely seen in healthy children. In this case report, a healthy 4-month-old girl patient who has wheezing, fever, labial and intra-oral lesions are presented for drawing attention to HSV-associated pneumonia.
