The Investigation of Chlamydia Trachomatis in Clinical Samples with Molecular Method

Chlamydia trachomatis is known as themost common bacterial infection agent to pass withsexual transition. This microorganism is anobligatory intracellular parasite. C. trachomatiscauses eye infections such as trachoma, pneumoniasin new born babies, genito urinary system infectionsand Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) that isconstituted by LGV strains causes pathology in thelymph nodes in the genital region. In this study, ithas been aimed to investigate C. trachomatis byusing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and realtime PCR methods. The swab samples that havebeen taken from 50 patients, who have applied toErciyes University Gevher Nesibe Investigation andApplication Hospital Obstetric and GynecologyPoliclinics and Urology Policlinics with genitalflow pre-diagnosis between February 2010 andMarch 2010 dates, have been included in this study.C. trachomatis was found positive in 1 (2%) sampleof 50 samples. As a conclusion no difference wasfound between two PCR methods for investigation ofC. trachomatis DNA
