Just because a building listed as historical heritage is not a sufficient reason to begin with facade lighting.There are number of points to consider before proceeding with a lighting design. The most important of theseis to underline the real need for an external lighting and the next is to accept that a simple technical approachis useless. A successful lighting design requires a holistic approach; visual aesthetic and comfort, architecturalintegrity, environmental issues, sustainability and installation matters should all be considered simultaneously.In this article, we will examine some important aspects concerning architectural facade lighting design andlook into internationally awarded facade lighting design of “Kırıkkkale Nur Mosque”.
