Frigya-Pisidya Sınır Bölgesinde Arazi Sahibi Ligys

Yeşilova yakınlarındaki Sazak’tan bir yazıtta adı geçen arazi sahibi Ligys, yakınlardaki Çaltepe kasabasında Poseidon’a adakta bulunan adaşıyla özdeşleştirilmektedir. Po-seidon’a yapılan adak, yakın civardan benzer yazıtlarla karşılaştırıldığında, tanrının toprağın bere-keti için taşıdığı önemi vurgulamaktadır.

The Landholder Ligys in the Phrygian-Pisidian Borderland

The author identifies the landowner Ligys in an inscription from Sazak near Yeşilova with his namesake, who erected a dedication to Poseidon in the village of Çaltepe, not far from Sazak. An overview of private and imperial estates in the region shows that Ligys’s land laid between several large domains, characteristic of the Phrygian-Pisidian borderland. However, a possible belonging of his land to a city cannot be proven since the region’s historical geography is poorly known. The dedication to Poseidon, in comparison to similar inscriptions from the surroundings, points out the importance of the god for the fertility of the soil.
