Bu çalışmanın amacı, empati ve yardım etme eğilimi arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmak ve bazı psikososyal değişkenlere bağlı olarak yardım puanları açısından gruplar arasında fark olup olmadığını belirlemektir. Bu amaçla Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Buca Eğitim Fakültesi 'nde öğrenim gören 402 (248 kız, 154 erkek) öğrenciye Kişilerarası Tepkiverme Ölçeği (KTÖ), Yardım Yönelimi Ölçeği (YYÖ) ve araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen veri toplamak için hazırlanmış Bilgi Formu ile birlikte uygulanmıştır. Analizler sonucunda iki değişken arasında pozitif ilişki olduğu ve KTÖ’ nın alt boyutlarının yardım eğilimini yordamada etkili değişkenler olduğu görülmüştür. Elde edilen bulgular, diğer araştırma bulguları çerçevesinde tartışılmıştır.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between empathy and helping tendency, and examine the difference between helping tendency scores of the groups in terms of some psychosocial variables. Data was collected by Interpersonal Reactivity Index, Helping Orientation Questionnaire and Personal Information Sheet, which was developed by researcher. The sample consisted of a total 402 students (248 female and 154 male) from different departments of the faculty of education. The results shows that there is a positive relationship between empathy and helping behavior tendency, and multiple regression analysis indicates that empathy significantly predicted the helping behavior tendency. The findings were discussed in the context of literature.
