Ergenlerde Cinsel Eğitimin Okullardaki Yeri ve Önemi: Farklı Ülkelerden Uygulamalar

Ergenlerin yaşadıkları biyolojik, psikolojik ve sosyal değişimler sebebiyle çevrelerinden alacakları destek içinde bulundukları dönemin sağlıklı bir şekilde atlatılması açısından büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Bu bilinç ile hareket eden ülkeler cinsel eğitimi düzenli bir şekilde okullarda vermektedirler. Cinsel eğitimin okul müfredatına dahil edilmediği ülkelerde ise ergenler ailelerinden de yeterli desteği görmedikleri takdirde denetimsiz bir bilgi akışına maruz kalabilmektedirler. Bu noktada, cinsel eğitimin hangi ortamlarda kimler tarafından ne ölçüde verilmesi gerektiği konusunda fikir birliğine varılamamıştır. Bu sebeple bu çalışma, ergenlerde cinsel eğitimin okullardaki yeri ve önemini farklı ülkelerden uygulamaları göz önünde bulundurarak incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Yapılan çalışmalar, Türkiye’de cinsel eğitimin okul müfredatında yeteri kadar yer almadığını göstermektedir. Diğer taraftan, dünyanın farklı ülkelerinde okullarda verilmekte olan cinsel eğitim konusunda farklı uygulamalar mevcuttur. Bu makalede sırasıyla Türkiye’de cinsel eğitimden bahsedilmiş, dünyanın farklı ülkelerinde cinsel eğitim uygulamaları açıklanmış ardından ergenler için okullarda cinsel eğitimin yeri ve önemi literatür bağlamında tartışılmıştır.

The Position and Importance of Sex Education for Adolescents in the Schools: Practices from Different Countries

Adolescents experience biological, psychological, and social changes. These changes make the adolescence period more challenging. Therefore, adolescents need support to get through this period in a healthy way. At this point, some countries give sex education in schools. On the other hand, many countries prefer not to include sex education in the school curricula. In these countries, parents may be unable to support their children regarding sex education. That is why adolescents are exposed to an uncontrolled flow of information. At this point, there is no consensus on how sex education should be given. Thus, this study aims to examine the position and importance of sex education in schools for adolescents by considering practices from different countries. Studies demonstrate that schools in Turkey tend to neglect sex education. On the other hand, there are various sex education practices given in schools in different countries of the world. In this article, firstly, sex education in Turkey is mentioned. After that, sex education practices in different countries are explained, and then the position and importance of sex education in schools for adolescents are discussed in the context of the literature.
