Ground source heat pump (TKIP) systems, also known, as geothermal heat pumps and earth energy systems are a promising new technology that has been used for the last decade in Turkey. In this study, the performance evaluation of a TKIP system with a horizontal heat exchanger (depth 2 m) used for, heating a test room is presented. The TKIP system connected to a test room in the Technical Education Faculty at Fırat University, Elazığ, was designed and constructed to determine the COP of the heat pump unit and values COPS of the heat pump system. The heating load of the test room was 2.55 kW at design conditions. The experiments were performed in February 2003. In addition, the effect of sewage system on the brine temperatures has been investigated.
