Yüzyıllardan beri geleneksel olarak halk arasında kullanılan bitkisel tıbbi ürünler Osmanlı döneminden itibaren preparat halinde eczanelerde yer almaya başlamıştır. Son yıllarda yeniden gündeme gelen ve sayıları giderek artan preparatların yıllar içerisindeki artış ve azalışları dikkat çekicidir. İlaç kataloglarında 1970’li yılların öncesinde oldukça fazla sayıda bitkisel ürüne rastlanırken bu sayının 1970 sonrasında giderek azaldığı görülmektedir. Yakın tarihte ise, özellikle son 5 yılda, ilginin tekrar artması yanında bu konuda bilgi kirliliği had safhaya ulaşmıştır. Hem bu konuya dikkat çekmek hem de geçmişte eczanelerimizde bulunan bitkisel preparatların durumunun değerlendirilerek karşılaştırılması için 1969, 1979, 1989 İlaç Katalogları taranarak 10 yıllık periyotlardaki istatistiksel durumun ortaya konması amaçlanmaktadır

Herbal medicines, traditionally used by the public for centuries, have taken their place in pharmacies as preparations since the Ottoman times. Being popular in the recent years and increasing in numbers, the herbal preparations increase and decline over the years is remarkable. While numerous herbal products are seen in the medical catalogues before the 1970s, the numbers declined significantly after 1970. In recent times, particularly in the last 5 years, the attention has been growing once again and the information pollution on this matter reached the highest levels. This study aims to scan the drug catalogues in 10-year periods starting from 1969, 1979 and 1989 to reveal the statistical information to evaluate the status of herbal medical preparations that were available in pharmacies in the past, while drawing attention on this matter.
