REVERSIBLE POSTERIOR LEUKOENCEPHALOPATHY IN A CHILD WITH ACUTE GLOMERULONEPHRITIS: FOLLOW-UP MR IMAGING

Hypertensive encephalopathy is the mostcommon cause of reversible posteriorleukoencephalopathy syndrome, which is quiterare in the pediatric age group. Diffuse vasogenicedema in the posterior circulation territories atthe initial stages and complete disappearance ofedema on follow-up imaging is the characteristicfeature of this syndrome. Frontal and temporallobe involvement is rarely seen. In this report wepresent the follow-up MR and diffusion weightedimaging findings of reversible posteriorleukoencephalopathy syndrome in a pediatriccase with this rare involvement in addition tocharacteristic involvement localization.Key Words: Reversible posteriorleukoencephalopathy, Glomerulonephritis, MRimaging.
