Bu araştırmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının fen ve teknoloji okur-yazarı bireylere ve bu bireylerin yetiştirilebilmesi için alınması gereken önlemlere ilişkin görüşlerini almaktır. Bu amaçla nitel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı çalışmada amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme kullanılmıştır. Açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan anket yoluyla 2009-2010 öğretim yılında Mersin Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi İlköğretim Bölümü Sınıf Öğretmenliği programında öğrenim görmekte olan 70 son sınıf öğrencisinin görüşüne başvurulmuştur. Miles ve Huberman’ın (1994) önerdiği güvenirlik formülü kullanılmış ve güvenirlik %92 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ölçme aracından elde edilen veriler, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinde yer alan analiz tekniklerinden betimsel analiz tekniği kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir.

In this study, primary school teacher candidates’ opinions regarding to the science and technology literates and educating these individuals are defined based on their responses to the open-ended questions. One of the purposive sampling methods, criterion sampling method was used in this study. In the fall term of the 2009-2010 academic year, 70 teacher candidates that enrolled at the department of Primary School Education at Mersin University as volunteers were asked to report their opinions. For the reliability of the study, using Miles and Huberman’s (1994) formula, it was calculated as %92. The data of this study were analyzed through descriptive analysis techniques as one of the qualitative analysis techniques
