Teamwork In Psychiatric Care and Social Work Perspective

Teamwork in psychiatry helps deal with psychiatric illnesses in a more complete manner. Through teamwork, illnesses are evaluated together not only with medical facts but also with individual, environmental, social and cultural phenomena. Other than this, the fact that various people of different professions work together in teamwork helps increase the success in treatments. Nowadays, teamwork is applied in various fields and disciplines due to its benefits. Particularly in psychiatry, teamwork has been applied for a long time. Nonetheless, mental health field and teamwork have become the focal point of social work application as well. In this work, the concept of psychiatric teamwork isexamined through the survey and evaluation of literature. This work examines the concept of teamwork, the origins of multidisciplinary teamwork, members of the psychiatric treatment team, effective teamwork in psychiatry and social work perspective in psychiatry.
