The inflammatory process in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) may cause an increase in NLR. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether admission NLR is associated with STEMI complicated by cardiogenic shock. Patients and Methods: The study population comprised patients who had presented with acute STEMI. All patients referred underwent routine blood tests, including common blood cell counts, and NLR analysis. Results: STEMI showed characteristics of cardiogenic shock in 100 patients and was uncomplicated in 103 patients. NLR was significantly different between the two groups (9.9 ± 7.9 vs. 6.2 ± 4.3, respectively, p< 0.001). Multiple logistic regression analyses showed that NLR was significantly associated with STEMI complicated by cardiogenic shock (β= 1.07, 95% CI 1.01-1.15, p= 0.03). Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that admission NLR was higher in patients with STEMI complicated by cardiogenic shock. To prove this relationship between NLR and cardiogenic shock, further investigations are needed.
